Los Alamos, California 93440
Los Alamos is a small, but rapidly growing community at the north edge of the Santa Ynez Valley. The township was founded by two ranchers in 1876 who each purchased 14,000 acres from Mexican land grants.
The main Highway 101 passed right through town until 1950, and this was a favorite place to spend the night for weary travelers. In 1950, however, the highway was diverted - and Los Alamos received little attention until recently.
In the last few years, Los Alamos has been accepted as part of the "Santa Ynez Valley Region" - it's only a 12 minute drive north of Buellton. Los Alamos is now a rapidly-growing
residential and wine-growing area, and boasts unique antique shopping, art, and three wine tasting rooms.
Los Alamos has Wikipedia Information and a Satellite View. See Also: losalamosinfo.com.
